Year 3
Summer 2 Week 3
We had great fun on Thursday having afternoon tea with Mrs Tredegar, a character from our new book The Green Ship, particularly as we had to make the cake to eat! Our Madeira cake was delicious and went very well with the cucumber sandwiches that Miss Jones kindly made for us.
In Maths we finished looking at division and have moved onto measures, firstly looking at mass, which our cooking linked to on Thursday. We also enjoyed a mass challenge with some dads in school on Friday - finding 3 items that would balance a given weight. It was lovely to see so many dads, thank you for joining in with our times tables too! We practised the 4x table this week and are moving on to the 8x table next week.
We have been practising daily for the KS2 production of Splash. Many thanks for the contributions for costumes. I will keep the t-shirts and ears in school for the dress rehearsal on Friday and then send them home so the children can wear them to the village hall on Monday evening. Please let me know if your child will not be able to attend - the children are dancing in pairs and so need their partner! Tickets are also selling out fast so see Mrs Gayle asap to buy your tickets.
Your child should also have brought home a letter about our final excursion of the year. We are venturing out into the forest to have a go at flying our kites that we will make in school. The children's homework is to look at home for any materials that could be recycled to make their kite. This could be a colourful plastic bag, tissue paper or maybe some ribbons for decoration. Please do not go out and but anything - the idea is that we try to use recycled materials and I will find lots of stuff in school to use too.
It was lovely to see lots of you at the fair on Friday, thank goodness the sun shone. It looks like the Summer is finally arriving. please make sure your child has a water bottle in school every day, apply suncream before they come to school and that they have a hat to wear outside.
Many thanks
Clare
