We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 3 Blog - 4th November 2022

Welcome back! It is wonderful seeing all the children again and finding out all about their half-term adventures!

In English this week we started our new text driver, ‘The day the crayons quit’, the children were super excited and to our delight many said this book is one of their favourites! We have been focusing on the powers of persuasion! So we apologise if your child tries to practise this on you! We continue to develop our understanding of non-fiction books and how different features are used to help us retrieve information.

We have been learning to measure accurately, compare, add and subtract when measuring in Maths. We have set homework linked to this learning to support your child’s understanding.

In Geography, we have been exploring counties and cities in the UK. As an extra challenge this week for homework we have asked the children to look at atlas or Google Maps with supervision to find out more.

An Important Reminder…  Many children have been forgetting to hand in their books on a Thursday, to foster a love of reading please encourage your child to bring in their book so that it can be changed.

We aim to read with each child throughout the week, therefore it is vitally important that they have both their reading book and diary with them on a daily basis. When your child reads at home, please make a note in their diary.

As always if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us on: e.townsend@brockenhurst-primary.hants.sch.uk and r.platt@brockenhurst-primary.hants.sch.uk To help us ensure there is consistency please contact both Emma and I.

Have lovely half-term break.
