We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 3 Blog - 13.01.23

Another super but busy week in year 3!

The children have been really enthused by sharing all the different poems they found for homework. We have enjoyed sharing these and practised reading them with intonation.  We will continue to learn different poems and discuss the meaning of word choice. We end this unit having a go at writing our own poems. Please continue to enjoy poetry at home together and visit your local library.

In Maths, we have been learning the next part of our measure unit - Mass. We have been discussing units of measure including; grams, kilo grams and tonnes. The children have been reading scales and comparing different weights on scales - using mathematical language - lighter, light, lightest, heavy, heaviest, heavier. Please practically explore mass at home, encouraging children to use this vocabulary. We have also been adding and subtracting weight.

This week we introduced our new PSHE, jigsaw, where we developed a class charter to discuss respect, listening to each other and being kind about each other's ideas.  The children loved playing different games and discuss challenges we and others face in their life.

Reminders

*Homework  - Edshed, TTRockstars

* Read your school books

It is so wonderful to see so many children reading at home, little and often is so important. It is so important to encourage and foster a love of reading so reading a range of books/magazines/comics is really important but for fluency and progression in reading skills children must read their school book. When reading at home, please make a note in their diary, thank you.

As always if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us on: e.townsend@brockenhurst-primary.hants.sch.uk and r.platt@brockenhurst-primary.hants.sch.uk To help us ensure there is consistency please contact both Emma and I.

Have a great weekend.
