We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 3 Blog 2.3.23

What a fabulous week year 3!

The highlight celebrating world book day with you all, seeing your wonderful costumes and a trip to Woodpeckers Nursing Home to listen to some great story telling! You all listened beautifully and showed thanks by creating your own thank you messages.

This week in English, we have been looking at the difference between simple and compound sentences. We have practised writing our own sentences using subordinating conjunctions in readiness for next week’s learning. Next week, we will be planning, writing and editing our own wolf leaflets to inform rabbit of the dangers.

Homework

Research facts about wolves e.g. diet, appearance, pack life. You may like to visit the local library or use a computer. Here are a few websites/video links to get you started;

Please bring your findings into school for Tuesday, these can be in note form, a mind map or any other ways you find helpful.

In Maths, we continue to develop our understanding of addition and subtraction, using our place value knowledge. We have been using many different strategies to demonstrate our understanding including; concrete resources (dienes), bar model, number lines. We have practised estimating then checking our answers by using inverse calculations.

Reminders

*Homework  - Wolf facts, TTRockstars (x3, x4, x8)/Top marks- hit the button  https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button

* Read your school books

It is so wonderful to see so many children reading at home, little and often is so important. It is so important to encourage and foster a love of reading so reading a range of books/magazines/comics is really important but for fluency and progression in reading skills children must read their school book. When reading at home, please make a note in their diary so we know they are ready for a new book, thank you.

As always if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us on: e.townsend@brockenhurst-primary.hants.sch.uk and r.platt@brockenhurst-primary.hants.sch.uk To help us ensure there is consistency please contact both Emma and I.
