Year 3 Blog- 16.6.23
A busy but exciting week in year 3. We kicked off the week with an exciting day with Winchester Science Centre. A massive thank you to the PTA for funding this fabulous day and to Miss Lever for organising (See photos attached for more about the day’s activities.)
In English, we revisited the Magic Box Poem, by Kit Wright for inspiration to write our own poems about the night box. The children had some wonderful ideas, using their senses to guide them. We look forward to completing these next week.
In Maths, we have been revisiting addition and subtraction unit. Thinking about the vocabulary and strategies we use including; unstructured number lines, part/part/whole and bar models.
Exciting news we found out that Year 3 will be the Lost boys in this years end of year performance of Peter Pan. We have started learning our songs, attached in the costume letter. A paper copy will be sent home on Monday. Please let us know if you need any help sourcing a costume.
In Jigsaw this week, we continued the looking at life cycle of a human. We then discussed older people in our lives that we respect and why. The children had some lovely ideas.
Homework this week
- Reading your school book (record in reading diary)
- Spelling (Edshed)
- Times Tables – children should have come home with their timetable cards before half term. Please practise these, there are a number of ways you can practise; Hit the button, TTRockstars. The aim is your child can quickly answer times table questions. If they are secure practise the inverse – calculation.
* Please ensure your child has a named sun hat, water bottle and sun cream in school during the hot weather. So we are able to keep your child safe in the sun.
* Finally, a big plea, if you are able to come and help on our whole school walk and you have an up to date DBS check, please email me.
As always if you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to contact us on: email@example.com and firstname.lastname@example.org To help us ensure there is consistency please contact both Emma and I.
Enjoy the sun this weekend
