Year 4
News of the week - 1/1/20
The children have had a great first week back to the new decade!
We have launched our new topic for the term which is on Natural Disasters. As part of this, we have had lots of discussions about the Australian Bush fires and we have reflected on these during whole school and class worships as well. The children have shown real compassion to the people in Australia during these discussions. We will continue to learn about some of the different Natural Disasters that occur in our world and the effects these can have.
We have started a new text in English called 'Mouse, Bird, Snake, Wolf'. As part of this, we have had a whole class debate and the children have started to write a persuasive argument.
In maths, we have been recapping some of our learning from the Autumn term which the children have remembered really well. We have also tackled some challenging problem-solving tasks and the children have had to be really resilient when they've found something tricky.
Homework - is live! Please encourage your child to complete this as well as practising their spellings and times tables.
I hope you all have a good weekend.
