Year 4
Year 4- 04/03/2022
Welcome back!
This week we have started our new writing unit by looking at the book ‘Arthur and the Golden Rope’. We have become detectives in English to work out what the book is about and whether the characters within the book are heroes or villains. We have also read through most of the book and thought about who the main character is and why he is an unlikely hero. Without knowing the end of the story, we have written our own endings after detecting all the key information from the story.
In maths this week, we have recapped shape focussing on sides and vertices. We have also looked at acute, obtuse and right angles and the facts that we know to identify these angles. By using our knowledge of angles, we have looked closely at the different properties of different triangles. We can now identify the different triangles as well as draw these triangles focussing on the properties and accuracy.
On World Book Day, we all dressed up as our favourite book character and completed a scavenger hunt. All children put so much effort into their costumes, and they looked fantastic. On the scavenger hunt, we all had so much fun working together to crack the code. The scavenger hunt stretched around the entire school, with us all having to search high and low, indoors and outdoors. We even had to look near the pigs! The children showed their great teamwork skills by working with a partner from Year R and helping them to come to an answer. Thank you for your generous donations for World Book Day so far. If you would like to donate please bring the donation in by next Friday.
This week, we started our Design and Technology unit where we are planning on making wraps, remembering what ingredients to use in a balanced diet. We have tasted different salads and condiments and planned our wraps so that next week we are ready to make and try our wraps.
We hope that you have a lovely weekend.
