We have had a great week in year 4. In English, we have started our new writing unit which is based on a fantastic picture book called ‘Flood’. The children have really enjoyed exploring the images. They have taken part in some drama to bring the book to life, written about the thoughts and feelings of the characters and explored how the colour choices reflect the mood of different parts of the book.

In maths, we have been learning the 7 and 9 times tables. The children have been counting in multiples of 7 and 9 from zero and tackling a variety of different problem solving tasks. We will continue to work on the fluency and quick recall of all times tables from 2-12 in class, as this will really support their maths learning. The children enjoyed another brilliant art session with Pia this week. The focus this week was drawing the school! They started in the classroom and then took the drawing outside in the sunshine.

You will have today received a letter about a trip to the Isle of Wight for the launch of ‘The Squirrels Tale’. Please can you return the signed consent as soon as possible.
