Year 4
Year 4 - 04.11.2022
Welcome back! We hope you all had a lovely half term. We have been very busy this week! We have started reading ‘The Firework Maker’s Daughter’ which is the text we will be using in writing over the next few weeks. We have been summarising the chapters as we read and have explored what the main characters in the book are like. We have ended the week with discussing some of the decisions the main characters have made and whether we agree with them or not. The class did a great job of justifying their responses and listening to the responses of others.
In maths, we started the week with solving 2 step addition and subtraction problems. Year 4 worked hard to ensure they were retrieving the important information from the problem and using the language to help them decide which operation to apply. We have ended the week by recapping converting between millimetres, centimetres and metres.
In art this week, we have started our new unit by researching J M W Turner. To do this we used the Tate Modern website and accessed the area specifically designed for children. The class really enjoyed exploring the website and gathered lots of interesting facts about Turner.
Today your children have come home with their Christmas card designs. The class had so much fun creating their designs and they all look fantastic! You will have also received a leaflet with information on how to purchase various items.
We hope you all have a great weekend.
