We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 4

Year 4 - 30.03.2023

Happy Easter! We have reached the end of Spring term – where did the time go? We have had a lovely last week together. There have been many highlights and one of them was our Easter Service at St Saviours Church. It was lovely to all come together and join the Easter Service and share the songs that we have been learning during our singing worships. Another highlight was our ukulele performance. We were so proud of Y4 and how brilliantly they performed and played the ukulele. Thank you for joining us!

In other news this week, we have finished our writing unit about our picture book ‘Flood’. The children have written some fantastic recounts of the events. They have written from the perspective from one of the main characters and included some excellent vocabulary to covey how the characters were feeling and hook the reader in.

In maths, we have been recapping fractions of quantities. We have used bar models to represent our fractions and then used this to help us find the amount of more than one part. The class have worked incredibly hard on this and it has been great to see their confidence grow over the past few days. Well done year 4!

During guided reading we have been exploring ‘Charlotte’s Web’. The class have really enjoyed looking this text and are keen to keep reading! If you would like to access this at home then the children can through our E-Book system: https://brockenhurstprimary-hantssls.eplatform.co/account/logon They can access a range of books and magazines and are very familiar with the system.

We have also completed our D&T project for this term. The children have been exploring soft toys and have designed and made their own. They showed incredible resilience, determination and creativity. The final products look amazing.
We ended the term by taking part in a Hansel and Gretel drama workshop which was run by West End in Schools. Year 4 had a wonderful time becoming the characters from the text and bringing the story to life. A huge tank you to the PTA for funding this experience for the whole school.

We hope you all enjoy the Easter break.
