Year 4
Year 4 - 12.05.2023
We have had a great week in year 4. One of our highlights was drawing and painting a tree in art. The children used watercolours to paint their trees and applied range of techniques to add detail, texture and shades.
In maths this week we have continued with multiplying a three digit numbers by one digit. We have been using a range of methods to work out the answers and have been really focusing on checking our work. With more steps to follow it is easy for an error to occur, but I have been really impressed with Year 4’s resilience and methodical checking.
In English, we have started our new writing learning journey using the text driver: The Lost Words. This is a beautiful poetry book all about nature. As part of our journey we used the school grounds to go on a nature walk and appreciate our wonderful environment. This experience then helped us to write some fantastic descriptions. Alongside this text, we have been exploring the RSPB Nature Guide in our whole class guided reading sessions. Some of the children have really enjoyed this text and have accessed it on our school e-book system. Reminder – our e-book system can be accessed from home by clicking the link in our Year 4 Google Classroom.
Forest School – Forest School will be resuming on Monday 15th May. We will be continuing with Group 1 who have two sessions remaining. Please can all children in Group 1 come to school on Monday with their wellies and coats. Group 2 will begin their 6 weeks of Forest School after half-term.
We hope you all have a great weekend.
