Year 4
Year 4 - 15.09.2023
Happy Friday! We have had a great week in Year 4 and are beginning to settle into the new routines of our class. This week we have enjoyed our first music lesson with Mrs Thomas. The class thoroughly enjoyed this and are looking forward to next week.
In science this week we have been looking at substances and mixtures. The children had to identify a range of substances that were in several mixtures. They then had a go at making their own mixtures. We will move onto separating next week.
In English we have been focussing on using direct speech and punctuating it correctly. There are lots of elements to remember when including speech in our writing and Year 4 have done fantastically at applying their knowledge. We have ended the week by writing a new page for our class text.
In maths we have been looking at numbers to 10,000. We have partitioned them in different ways and used dienes, place value charts and more abstract models to show our understanding. We have also explored what happens when we find 1, 10, 100 or 1000 more and less that a 4 digit numbers. Reminder – Forest School on Monday for Group 1. Please bring coats and wellies.
EdShed tasks have been set for completion by next Wednesday. Login details are in their reading diaries. All children also have a reading book and library book to enjoy.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
