Year 4
Year 4 - 12.01.2024
This week in Year 4 we have welcomed Miss Boncheva into Year 4. She is a third year teaching student from Winchester University and will be with us until Easter. Year 4 have done a great job welcoming Miss Boncheva into the class and she is enjoying getting to know your children. In other news this week, we have started our art unit based on J M W Turner and his painting Rain, Speed and Steam. The class have researched Turner and then looked at drawing their own perspective pictures.
In this week we have continuing to move through learning our times tables. We have looked at the 9s and 7s. The children have a good understanding of these times tables and can only their knowledge to problem solving and reasoning tasks. They now need to continue to work on their fluency in recall of multiplication and division facts. You can also support this at home by accessing TT Rockstars, Hit the Button, songs or verbal recall.
In English we have been continuing to explore The Great Kaypok Tree. We have written a persuasive piece to ensure the safety of the tree. I was very impressed with Year 4’s language choices and how this contributed to the impact of their writing. Well done! We have also explored a range of prefixes and looked at the present perfect tense.
We hope you all have a great weekend.
