Year 4
Year 4 - 17.05.2024
We have had another great week. One area of learning this half-term for Year 4 has been linked to the New Forest. We have looked at trees in art, explored changes to our local area in geography and looked at a range of different fiction, non-fiction and poetry-nature inspired texts in our English units. This week the class used college to create a treehouse on their watercolour tree paintings. They looked brilliant! The class took their time and really focused on making the treehouse stand out within the tree.
In maths this week, we have been looking at making a whole using tenths and hundredths. The class have used hundred squares as a pictorial representation and looked at the different possibilities for making one whole. We have then moved onto partitioning decimals into ones, tenths and hundredths.
In English, we have started a new text. As part of immersing ourselves in the new text, we went on a nature walk around our school grounds focusing our senses. This experience helped to generate a range of high quality vocabulary that was then used in a descriptive piece of writing.
We have continued to prepare for Sports Day this week – let’s hope the sun shines for us!
Have a lovely weekend.
