Welcome back! We have had a lovely week getting to know your children and settling into the routines of Year 4. The class have been earning lots of Dojo points and are working had to reach their personal and whole class targets! The class very much enjoyed spending some time in the fantastic new library as well as playing a bingo game to help us learn new things about each other. We also had a great time going in the MAF plane today!

In maths this week, we have been revisiting place value and applying our knowledge of numbers up to 1000. We have used equipment, pictorial representations and number lines. In English we have started our new text, ‘Leon and the Place Between.’ We have spent some time exploring the characters that we have come across, making predictions and asking questions. I have been very impressed with your children’s enthusiasm and hard work.

Routines for Year 4 are as follows:

• Book change every Tuesday
• EdShed maths and spelling homework will be set on a Monday
• Library change will be every Friday
• PE on Tuesday and Friday but please ensure kits are in daily
• Forest School is on a Monday afternoon this term. If your child is in Group 1, they will need their Forest School clothing in on Monday and will have come home with a note detailing what they need.

All children have come home with their reading book and times table card. Please do continue to read regularly at home, to support your child’s fluency and comprehension. Regular times table practise will also support your children in becoming more confident and efficient mathematicians. Within each child’s Reading Record, they have their login details for our Sora e-book system, TT Rockstars and EdShed.
