Year 4
Year 4 - 17.10.2024
We have reached the end of another great week in Year 4! This week we have planned an investigation in science that we will be carrying out next week. We have planned how to separate several mixtures and are looking forward to trying them out.
In English this week we have planned and written our speeches. The children have each decided whether they would like to keep or bin the Greenling. They have organised their work into clear paragraphs, used a range of conjunctions and questions. I was really impressed by some of their arguments for or against! We are hoping to persuade some others in the class to change their viewpoint when we perform our speeches next week!
In maths we have started a new unit on addition and subtraction. This week, we have been adding and subtracting 1s, 10s, 100s and 1000s. The class have built up great fluency in this area and have strategies when crossing into the next boundary and exchanging. We have used dienes, number lines and pictures along the way.
Messages:
- Group 1 have now completed their 6 weeks of Forest School and will not need their kit for next week.
- The planting at New Park has been rearranged for next Wednesday – please ensure your children bring wellies, a waterproof coat and waterproof trousers if appropriate. They will most likely get a little muddy during the planting.
- This week your child will have come home with their Christmas card design and information about how to purchase a variety of items with their design on. These need to be ordered by 28th October.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
