Year 4
Year 4 - 25.10.2024
We have had a wonderful last week in year 4. On Wednesday, we spent part of the morning at New Park. All the children took part in a craft activity and then planted a variety of different trees which will create a mini forest (see attached photos). The sun was shining and lots of fun was had by everyone! We then spent the afternoon separating mixtures in our science lesson.
In English this week, we edited our speeches and then had the opportunity to read our speeches out loud to the class. I was very proud of the children that delivered their speeches – they did so with such confidence and enthusiasm! We ended the week by exploring some poetry linked to the seasons. We will continue this unit after half term.
In maths, we have been adding two four digit numbers with an exchange. We have used dienes, place value charts, pictures and column method to secure our understanding of exchange. We have focused on ensuring that our workings are neatly presented, which can help us to work accurately and also spot errors where needed.
Some messages for after half term:
- Group two will begin their Forest School sessions on the first Monday back. They have got a note about this in their bags.
- PE days after half-term will be on a Thursday and Friday. Please ensure PE kits are in daily.
It was great to see so many of you at Parents’ Evening this week and share how your children are getting on in Year 4. If you do ever have any queries or would like to discuss something, please do come and see me.
We hope you have a lovely half term.
