Year 4
Year 4 - 08.11.2024
Welcome back! We have reached the end of a shorter week with tomorrow being an INSET day. Although we only had four days together, we have been very busy! Group 2 enjoyed their first session of Forest School whilst the rest of the class did some fantastic drawing in art. We also enjoyed our first cricket session with Chance to Shine Cricket. We are very much looking forward to the rest of these sessions.
In maths, we started the week by applying our knowledge of addition and exchanging to problems that involved more than one exchange. The class has become very fluent at working out the answers and recording their method and workings. We then moved on to subtraction – starting with no exchange and today subtracting two 4 digit numbers with one exchange taking place. I was really impressed with the children’s resilience! They used a range of resources to help them and also started to record their workings using column method.
In English this week we have planned, written and published their own poems based on Emily Dickinson’s 'Dear March – Come In'. The children produced some wonderfully written poems all about their favourite season or month of the year. I was really impressed with the children’s creativity when writing their poems – well done Year 4!
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
