Year 4

Year 4 - 07.03.2025
Happy Friday everyone! This week we have been treated to some lovely sunshine! The class have enjoyed break times and our PE netball session in the sunshine. One of our highlights this week would definitely be our first lesson on our new D&T unit - designing and making our own soft toys. This week we explored existing products and looked at Jellycat, Squishmallows and Beanie Boos. We looked at how extensive the range of toys of offer is and considered what it is that makes soft toys so popular. Next week, we will be looking at creating our own designs. The class are welcome to bring in a small soft toy next Thursday.
Another huge highlight was World Book Day! All the children were cosy and comfortable all day and we had lots of opportunities to relax and read. We also took part in a rotation in mixed year groups across the school. There were a range of fabulous book themed activities on offer and the class had a brilliant morning! All children have been given a World Book Day voucher to choose one of the books on offer.
In other news, we have continued on our journey with ‘We Travel So Far’. The class have identified fronted adverbials within the text and then applied them in their own writing. We have ended the week recapping possessive apostrophes and how they are used, ready to look at plural possession next week.
In maths, we have moved on to multiplication. We have applied our knowledge of multiplying a two digit number to multiplying a three digit number. We have focused on identifying common errors when multiplying and checking our work carefully to spot and edit where needed. We will be continuing with multiplying three digit numbers next week. Multiplication fluency helps hugely in this area of learning – please continue to work on time stables with your children at home.
We hope you have a lovely weekend.
