Y5 End of week blog - 27.11.20
A definite nip in the air this week as we tiptoe in to December!
Year 5 have had another busy week and today in science we have started to think about our new topic, Sound. the children will explore different types of sound, how sounds are made, what pitch and volume have to do sound and ways of soundproofing. We began today by thinking about what we already knew and challenging some of these ideas. We watched some footage of different instruments being played, discussed how the sounds were made and recognised that sound is made by vibrations.
In English, we have been concentrating on features of a biography and today we looked at what is needed in a concluding paragraph.
More problem solving in maths today saw Y5 grappling with making 100 from 4 digits. Working systematically was the key and many of them rose to the challenge and persevered with this seemingly simple, yet actually quite tricky task!
Mathletics is set - please make sure you are up to date with outstanding tasks. New tasks will be set on Tuesday and will focus on fractions and decimals.
Have a great weekend everyone.
