We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 5 Blog

Week beginning 31.01.22

Dear parents and carers,

Can all children please bring in their reading records and books each day.

If your child is unable to do PE, we do require written confirmation of this in advance of the lessons which take place on a Wednesday and Thursday.

This week the children have been learning about volume in maths and using multi link to find the volume of different shapes. They have also had a revision session on Roman numerals which showed how far they have come since September.

In English, we started our Shackleton unit, which is very topical at the moment as an expedition is being planned currently to find and salvage the wreck of Endurance.

For Geography this week, we covered different mountain ranges across the world and how these are formed through tectonic plate movement creating fold mountains.

In RE next week, we would like the children to bring in photographs or objects that show them 'belonging' to different clubs or groups. For example, being part of Cubs, Brownies or Guides or a sports club or church group. If this is not possible could they please think about what groups they belong to in preparation for the lesson.

Best wishes for the weekend,

The Year 5 Team
