Year 5 Blog
Week beginning 19.06.23
Dear parents and carers,
On Monday we had a science workshop with a team from the Winchester Science Centre where the children created music and light metres through coding.
Yesterday we went on our whole school walk to Whitemoor. Year 5 completed a scavenger hunt and enjoyed eating a 'wild' lunch with the rest of the school. The children showed real resilience with their walking despite the heat! Thank you to our parent volunteers.
In maths the children were continuing their work with converting units and this week were looking at time. We have also been working hard in morning maths covering all the Year 5 objectives we have been learning this year.
It has been another wonderful week listening to and learning about different types of poetry. We have been astounded by the children's creative ideas and use of language. This week the children have written a rhyme and refrain poem, a shape poem and a poem using onomatopoeia.
In science we have been learning about blood circulation. Today we looked at how the blood circulates around in a way that ensures all muscles in the body get a supply of oxygen and sugar.
Have a wonderful weekend.
