Dear parents and carers,

Yesterday we had a fabulous time watching an incredible performance of The Wizard of Oz at The Regent Centre in Christchurch. It has really inspired us for our Year 5 dance in the KS2 production! The children were impeccably behaved and were a joy to be with.

We have concluded our  Love That Dog poetry unit this week and the children have written some wonderful poems in response to this. They will now practise their poems and perform them at the end of next week.  We will also be starting our new unit of writing with our text driver, Shakespeare Stories, with our focus being the Tempest.

We had a wonderful history session with a visit from Mr Purkess, who talked to the children about life in Brockenhurst before and after the railway came. He was a font of local knowledge and the children were very interested in what he had to say.

In art this week the children painted their clay Buddha and also prepared the baseplates for their Wild Warrior shields for the KS2 production. Next week, they will each prepare their own spear. Could any remaining costumes please come in on Monday for the dress rehearsal.
