Dear parents and carers,

We were so disappointed about the adverse weather conditions that caused a postponement to our Marwell Zoo trip. Marwell Zoo did in fact close to the public that day. We are therefore looking forward to the visit next Thursday 9th November.

We started our new reading unit, The Purple Lady, which is building on our understanding of how a setting can affect characterisation. The children have also been planning their cliffhanger narrative in preparation for writing their stories next week.

In geography, we looked at how the Eldfell volcanic eruption impacted the island of Hiemaey, its inhabitants and Europe with its ash cloud that disrupted air travel. 

In science we started our new unit of work, Making New Substances. This week we were looking at irreversible changes. We made predictions about how certain materials will change when mixed with another substance.
