Dear parents and carers,

In spite of the week being shorter, we have still packed a lot in and it has been lovely seeing the children back in Year 5.

We have concentrated in maths on multiplying and dividing numbers by 10/100 and 1000 this week, using a place value board. We have also started our new Reading and Writing units. For reading we are focusing on a non-fiction book about the countries of Europe and for writing we are looking at  Shackleton’s expedition to Antarctica.

In science we started our new unit on Space and Gravity and today we were learning about our solar system.

A maths homework has been set but spellings will not be set until next Friday as we have to teach them first next week.
