We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 5 Blog

Week beginning 26.02.24

Dear parents and carers,

A reminder that it is World Book Day next Thursday and the children are welcome to come dressed as their favourite character.

This week in D&T, we focused on knife skills and how to prepare food, learn more about food provenance, hygiene and healthy eating.

In geography, we have compared the Cambian Mountains with our region and made predictions about why the Cambrin Mountains have a cooler and wetter climate.

In history, we started (my favourite!) unit on the British Empire. We answered the question, 'Why is it said that the sun never sets on the British Empire?' We then went on to look at which nations were part of the British Empire at its peak in 1921.

In writing we were looking at the emotions of Henry and how they change throughout the story. We have been using an emotions vocabulary wheel to up-level our writing.

In maths we have moved onto the formal method of short division.

We hope it stays dry for the weekend!
