Round up of the week

We have concentrated this week on introducing the children to the SATS papers that they will be sitting at the end of the year. The children have all coped very well and hopefully will not now fear them in the future.

We also enjoyed the visit to Highcliffe and are looking forward to comparing this to Preistlands on Monday.

Student Planner

All the children have been issued with a student planner. This is to be used to record any reminders that the children want to record for themselves and homework, marking off when they have completed it. We would ask that parents sign it on a Sunday to confirm that they have seen the planner and the notes in it.

We have found that introducing these planners to the children at this stage gets them used to having them, in readiness for secondary school.

Homework

Each week I will set, on Wednesday the following homework:

• Spellings (through Spelling Shed)
• Mathletics
• Times tables rockstars (to be undertaken twice a week)

These are all computer-based programmes. In the event that a computer is not available at home, I have told the children that they can come in any morning early to complete the work. There is also a lunch time homework club to undertake the work.

This first week I have only set Mathletic homework and Times tables rockstars. Some of the children are choosing to come in early and undertake the Times tables rockstars before school as they are enjoying it so much, which is a great start.
