Yr 6 - 11th Septmber 2020
Round up of the week
We have had a fantastic week back. The children have all worked really well and adapted to the new way of working very well. I am very proud of all of them.
English
This week we have been as a school focusing on being back together and have been exploring the book “We are Together”. The children have written and performed beautiful poems based on this theme.
Maths
We have begun to look at place value to 1,000,000. We have written numbers, verbalised numbers, identified the values of digits and partitioned numbers.
Maths – Website
In case your child is struggling with a particular areas of maths then the websites below offer further practice in that area (the 2nd website also offers links to YouTube tutorials in the domain)

Homework
All the children have been issued with Homework diaries. Homework will be issued formally next Wednesday as set out in the attached parent handout (Which also contains other important information).
The children have been asked to complete the homework diary each day at home to record how many pages of their reading book they have read that day. This will hopefully get them into good practice of reading every day and to prepare them for next year when they go to secondary school and homework will be sat every day.
It would be fantastic if you could support your child/children with the homework to begin with and also hear them read regularly to help them with this vital skill.
The children were so keen to get homework and asked that I start this week so I have sent home reading and maths work this week. This is to be handed in on Tuesday.
If you have any questions please do come and see me.
Have a fantastic weekend
Mrs Hudson
