We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 6 Weekly Blog Post

8.10.21

Good afternoon,

Important Message

We need to make you aware that a number of children in Year 5 and Year 6 are talking about  SQUID GAME at the moment.

This is a Netflix drama that has a 15+ rating. It is based on indebted participants playing children's games for a large cash prize. The outcome if they fail in a game is death, which is often portrayed in a gory or gruesome manner.

Netflix themselves warn that the programmes contain violence, sex and suicide scenes.

Unfortunately, the trailer and other content is readily available on YouTube and other social media platforms such as Snap chat.

If you have any concerns that your child may be accessing this content, we would recommend discussing with them why age-appropriate ratings are in place.

This Week

The children have continued to work their socks off this week! Their attitude to learning throughout the week has been great.

We have moved on to multiplication and division in maths, looking at common factors and multiples  and multiplying  and dividing any number by 10, 100 and 1000. The homework on mathletics next week will link to this so please encourage your child to complete this.

In English, we have started a new unit, watching a fictional video called 'The Black Hole' as our stimulus. The children have enjoyed doing some drama and having debates linked to this video.

The children enjoyed their rugby session on Monday and some of them said they would like to begin the club which is on a Monday evening. They were given leaflets with the information on to join.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.
