We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 6 Weekly Blog Post

12.11.21

Hello everyone,

I just want to start off by saying how proud myself, Mrs Martin, Mrs Edwards and Vicky Wales (our Chair of Governors) were yesterday, when we attended the remembrance memorial service at the war memorial in Brockenhurst. The children's behaviour was impeccable and they were so respectful and reflective during the time that we were up there. Many of the other adults commented on how lovely it was for us to be there.  So a big well done to all of Year 6! We have also had worship time in school to learn about remembrance and then we have reflected on this back in class through some activities.

The children have been working hard in maths this week on adding and subtracting fractions with different denominators. We have had to practice this skill lots, but the children have built confidence in this and have been able to apply this to different contexts.  In our morning maths, the children have been given additional challenges to complete as part of #Barvember which White Rose are running. Take a look at some of the problems that the children have been completing by following this link: https://whiterosemaths.com/resources/classroom-resources/barvember/

In English, we have been learning about when to  use a colon and a semi-colon, and we have been planning a non-fiction piece of writing about floods, linked to our Geography topic on climate change and our English text driver which is called Floodland.

Please remind your children to complete their Mathletics and Spelling Shed homework. Some children have also been given some multiplication tables to practice as part of our new multiplication fluency strategy in KS2, so please ask your children to share these with you if they have been given them.

We hope you have a lovely weekend.
