Year 6 Weekly Blog Post
30.9.22
Good afternoon,
Year 6 have had another busy week! They have been earning lots of Dojo points individually and as a class, which shows that they have been working hard. Class Dojo is a class reward system, where the children each have a little monster character, and if they demonstrate one of our school learning values, they get a point added to their monster. If the children earn 500 points as a class, they will have a class reward, and if they manage to earn 50 points individually, they will receive a certificate. Look out for these coming home!
We enjoyed our visit to Priestlands yesterday. The children loved the science lesson, testing out the 'Bunsen Burners' and changing the colour of the flame by adding different metals. The Priestlands open evening is next Tuesday. We have our visit to Highcliffe coming up, so please return your child's form if you haven't already.
This term we are very lucky to have some exciting career sessions taking place in Year 6. Denis Dooley, from the New Forest Show, is organising different visitors each week from our local community to come and talk to the children about their jobs, helping the children to see the different opportunities that are out there. The children will have the chance to ask questions and, where possible, take part in a practical task. This afternoon we kick-started the sessions with a visit from Corbin's Florist. Sarah talked about her career, her experiences and then taught the children how to make a 'button hole' piece (picture attached). The children were SO engaged and it was lovely to see them so interested and excited. We look forward to our next session which will take place next Friday.
We hope you all have a great weekend!
