We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 6 Weekly Blog

27.1.23

Good afternoon,

Year 6 have had another very busy week!

In maths, we have been learning about ratio. This has been a new topic for the children, and they have started to learn some methods to calculate ratio using known values. This has been challenging, and the children have shown real resilience. We will revisit this later on in the term.

In English, we have been exploring a book called 'Heroes: Incredible True Stories of Courageous Animals'. The children have used drama, prediction and inference skills this week to immerse themselves into the book. Next week we will be reading more of the book and exploring some animals that have been heroic.

In Science today, as part of our topic on Evolution, we have been learning about Charles Darwin, his early life, his voyage on HMS Beagle and the research that he carried out. The children have been really engaged in this topic and have enjoyed finding out information about this important scientist and naturalist.

The children have been using evidence to plan their own methods to prevent a German invasion during the Battle of Britain. The children have used teamwork to create diagrams and plans, and next week they will be sharing these.

There was lots of positivity after the Pantomime at the village hall which the children watched on Wednesday - a big thank you to the PTA for paying for this experience for the children.

We hope you all have a great weekend.
