We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 6 Weekly Blog

10.2.23

Good afternoon,

It was lovely to catch up with so many of you at Parents Evening this week to share the children's successes. They have been working extremely hard all term so far, and we are very proud of them.

This week, we have finished our unit in English studying the book 'Heroes'. They have done some fantastic writing linked to this book including a setting description, a time-slip story and an information page. The children have been thinking carefully about who their audience is for their writing as well as the purpose. Next half-term will be all about fine-tuning the skills that the children have been working so hard on. The next books that we will be studying are called 'Wolf Brother' and 'The Ways of the Wolf'.

In maths, we have been exploring statistics this week, applying their strategies to line graphs and calculating the mean. After half-term, we will be moving on to some further work on addition and subtraction, applying these skills to a range of different contexts including measure and fractions.

The children have thoroughly enjoyed their Science and History topics on Evolution and The Battle of Britain. Next half-term, we will be moving on to learning about 'Fair Trade' in Geography and 'Controlling Electrical Circuits' in Science.

We hope you all have a lovely half-term.
