Year 6 Weekly Blog
24.2.23
Good afternoon,
We have had a good first week back at school. The children have been calm and refreshed from their half-term break.
In maths, we have been practising some addition and subtraction, applying this to mental calculations, estimation and converting measures, drawing in different areas of maths. We are going to continue with this next week, applying addition and subtraction to fractions as well.
In English and Guided Reading, we have started to explore two new books: Wolf Brother and The Ways of the Wolf. The children have been immersing themselves in these books this week, and will begin to do some pieces of writing and work on comprehension skills next week.
In RE, we have been looking at the enquiry question: What difference does the resurrection make to Christians? The children have explored the story of Easter and have carried out some drama and debates as part of this unit.
The Year 6s really excelled themselves this morning in 'The Big Brock Dance Off'. The whole school have been doing dance as part of the PE curriculum, and they have all choreographed and practised their routines. Today, each group performed their dance in the hall in front of the whole school. It was a pleasure to see all of the different dances across the school and the Year 6s set a brilliant example.
Forest School message: Forest school is due to restart on Wednesday 8th March. Group 1 have currently only had 3 sessions, therefore they are going to continue with Forest School when it restarts until Easter, and group 2 will begin their sessions after the Easter holidays. Any questions, please let me know.
Have a lovely weekend!
