We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 6 Weekly Blog

3.3.23

Good afternoon,

Year 6 looked absolutely fantastic for World Book Day! It was lovely to see so many of the children being inspired by books and reading and dressing up as their favourite characters. Thank you for all of the effort.

In English, we have continued our work on the book called Wolf Brother my Michelle Paver. The children are really enjoying this book, and we have been focusing on some SPAG skills, searching for examples of conjunctions, determiners and adverbials in this book. Next week we will be continuing to study this book .

In Maths we have had a week of fractions! We have been adding fractions, subtracting fractions, multiplying fractions and dividing fractions. The children have worked really hard and have applied their methods to different representations and different problem-solving tasks. Next week we will be working on measures and converting between metric and imperial measures.

Today we have started our new Science and Geography topics. In Science, we are going to be studying electrical circuits, and today the children learnt how to draw a scientific diagram of a circuit. In Georgraphy, our topic this half-term is on Fair Trade. Today we learnt about The Silk Road, where this is and how important this was for trading many years ago.

We hope you all have a great weekend.
