We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 6 Weekly Blog Post

21.4.23

Good afternoon,

Welcome back - I hope everyone enjoyed their Easter break.

In Maths this week we have had a focus on multiplication and division, recapping all of the terminology that the children need to understand and the methods that they can use to calculate problems. We have been really impressed with how hard they have worked.

In English, we have started a new book called 'The Buried Crown' by Ally Sherrick. We have discussed some of the vocabulary within this book and the children have visualised and described the dragon within this book. Next week we will continue our work on this text.

We have begun our new Geography topic for this half-term which is on rivers, starting to learn how to sketch and label the different parts of a river, before building on this knowledge in upcoming lessons. We are continuing on our Science topic of Electricity. Our PE days are still on a Tuesday and Thursday and we are currently doing athletics and netball in these lessons. In Art this week, the children painted their designs of a crown onto a rock, in preparation for the King's coronation, where a display is being made at the train station with all of the children's work.

Homework: on EdShed, the homework being set is helping to further embed the learning we are doing in school. Please encourage your children to continue to complete their homework, as this will help them within school as well as help to prepare for secondary school.

We hope you all enjoy your weekend.
