We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 6 Weekly Blog Post

8.9.23

Good afternoon,

It has been lovely welcoming a new class to Year 6. We have spent lots of time getting to know each other this week and we're really looking forward to getting to know each other more as the year progresses. We have worked together to consider what is going to make our classroom a great classroom to learn in, where we feel safe and happy, and the children enjoyed this collaborative experience, contributing their thoughts and feelings. We have also come up with a 'Class Charter' together, considering how we should conduct ourselves around school.

We have started our English topic, focusing on a book called' Dead Man's Cove' which the children are thoroughly enjoying so far. They have been making predictions and inferences, and we will continue to read this book as our 'daily read'.

In Maths, we have been recapping some place value knowledge, ready to build on later in the term. Again, the children have been engaged and working hard - a great start to Year 6!

Our PE days from next week onwards will be on a Tuesday and Thursday. We will have cricket coaching on a Tuesday with Shining Stars for PE.

Our library change and book change day is a Wednesday.

We will begin to set homework next week. This will be set on a Monday and due in the following Monday.

If at any point throughout the year you have any questions, please do not hesitate to make contact with Miss Martin, or speak to any Year 6 adult at pick up.

Have a lovely weekend.
