We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 6 Weekly Blog Post

13.10.23

Good afternoon,

We have had a very busy week in Year 6! With a visit to Highcliffe Secondary School on Tuesday and a visit to The Balmer Lawn today, the children have enjoyed their experiences and have also shown brilliant manners and attitudes while we've been out.

As mentioned in an email earlier in the week, we are currently having career sessions on a Friday afternoon. Last week, Bronya visited us and talked all things graphic design! This week we visited The Balmer Lawn and learnt about the different careers that are available there - we even had the chance to be chefs and make our own pizzas! The reason for these sessions is to help link with our local community and to open the children's eyes to the possibilities for the future. We are very grateful for all the volunteers who have offered to help with these sessions.

In maths this week we have continued to explore multiplication and division, recapping our knowledge of factors, multiples, prime numbers, square numbers and cube numbers. The children have applied their knowledge to problem-solving and reasoning-style questions.

In English, we have been using a video called 'The Black Hole' as our stimulus and the children have been learning about relative clauses, relative pronouns and parentheses.

I look forward to seeing lots of you at Parents' Evening next week. Have a great weekend.
