Year 6 Weekly Blog
12.1.24
Good afternoon,
Welcome back - our first full week of the New Year completed. The children have settled back into the routines in Y6 brilliantly.
We have started a new maths topic on 'ratio', building up our understanding step by step and ensuring that we can apply our knowledge to reasoning and problem solving tasks. Next week we will apply this to a real life, practical context.
In English, we have been exploring two texts: 'The Lion and the Unicorn' and 'Rose Blanche'. Both of these books are set during WW2. The children have been making comparisons as well as inferences and predictions. We will be doing some further writing next week linked to these books.
We have completed the final lesson of our geography unit on Climate Change today, and are now moving on to a history topic on The Story of the Trojan Horse.
I just wanted to say a huge thank you for all of your well wishes and lovely Christmas presents while I was off - it's been really lovely to be back in with Y6.
I hope you all have a lovely weekend.
Miss Martin
