Year 6 Weekly Blog
15.3.24
Good afternoon,
Well done to all of your 6 for their efforts with Red Nose Day today - a particular thank you to the children who baked cakes, helped with the cake sale and for all of your donations!
In maths this week, we have been recapping area and perimeter. We have solved some problems based on this, involving other topics in maths such as symmetry, perpendicular, parallel lines and measuring angles. We will carry on with this and progress onto exploring shape in more detail next week.
In English, we have finished our unit on Wolf Brother and the children's final piece was to write narrative recounts. It was great to read their writing from the perspective of the main character, Torak.
In Art this week, as part of our topic exploring artists who use textiles within their art, we learnt about an artist called Victoria Villasana and tried to imitate some of her work. The children were very creative!
Reminder for next week - we have our school trip on Friday to The Mayflower Theatre to see the opera.
We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
