School Council, Pupil Voice and Responsibilities
Having a School Council means children can have their say and can make a difference to our school.
Our School Council is made up of one boy and one girl from each class (years R–6). These children have been democratically elected by their classmates to act as their class representatives. The School Council meet weekly with the support of a designated teacher to discuss a variety of issues relating to the school. The School Council look at both school and wider community issues. They are the pupil’s voice and have an important role to play when making decisions about: the school buildings, the curriculum, lunch and play times and other important events.
The School Council are also involved with the decision-making process when it comes to the school’s charity and community work. The headboy and Headgirl chair the meetings, assisted by a member of staff, and all children contribute to each meeting by sharing ideas they have discussed with their classes over the previous weeks.
Once a year, the year 6 School Council representatives are invited to talk to the main school governing body to report on a range of activities undertaken by the pupils.
Worship Ambassadors – Each week, our Worship Ambassadors collaborate with Mel Osborne, Youth Worker, and Rachel Platt to plan and prepare dynamic worship experiences. Together, they ensure that worship sessions are not only engaging but also thoughtfully convey Bible stories, creating a meaningful experience for all.
Eco Committee – Our Eco Committee is made up of one boy and one girl from each class (Years R–6), who take on leadership roles in promoting sustainability. Alongside Lisa Prichard, these children organise litter picks, participate in community projects, and support local environmental initiatives. Their efforts not only help keep our school and community clean but also inspire others to get involved and make a positive impact on the environment.
