Meet the Governors

John Littlewood - Head Teacher
I am a true Yorkshireman at heart with a passion for the Lake District. I moved to the South 22 years ago to start teaching after meeting my wife at University. I have a son in primary education and taught in Bournemouth before moving into the Forest.  I am passionate about every child being given the opportunity to achieve their potential and will do everything within my power to champion our leaders of the future.
Vicky Wales - Chair of Governors
I am a foundation governor appointed by the church and having recently retired I am delighted to take on the role of chair of governors at Brockenhurst primary school. I started my career as a teacher before moving into local government within Children’s services. I have lived in the village for over 25 years and my 2 sons attended Brockenhurst Primary school. It is a privilege to work with fellow governors, staff, parents and carers to support all of our pupils to achieve their full potential in all areas.

Revd Simon Newham - Ex Officio Governor
I am the Vicar of Brockenhurst, Boldre and South Baddesley with the community connections that such a role facilitates.  I have experience of school governorship over the last 15 years in a variety of contexts - including the role of Chair of Governors.  Before being ordained I studied geology at university and worked as a Project Leader in construction material research.  I continue to have a passion for the outdoors and outdoor pursuits engendered by my study and enjoyment of the natural world.
Kevin Plummer - LA Governor
I am dually qualified as an Environmental Health Officer and a Safety Officer. For approx 30 years I worked for the London Borough of Croydon as the Food, Safety and Licensing Manager which included chairing the Safety Advisory Group for Crystal Palace Football club and Surrey Street market. I retired in July 2013.  I have been a Foundation Governor of Wallington County Grammar School  for 25 years and am still a Trustee.  I was a Magistrate for 20 years.    I moved to Brockenhurst in 2013. My two children are now grown up and have moved away from home. I am also a Trustee of Brockenhurst Village hall.
Lisa Prichard - Staff Governor
I grew up in West Cornwall and then completed my Primary Education degree at the University of Winchester. I began my teaching career in a 4 form-entry school in Southampton, where I worked in Early Years. I have a passion for early reading and literacy skills to ensure that children get the best possible start to their primary years. Brockenhurst Primary School is a wonderful place to teach with fantastic colleagues and children. I feel very lucky to have the opportunity to become a staff governor and I hope to support my colleagues and the children through this role.
Andy Simmons - Parent Governor
I have worked in coaching and education for over a decade now, teaching students from 2-18 years of age. My work has been mainly within sport with a strong focus on the pastoral side of school life. I have experience in both the state and private sectors in England and overseas where I held a senior leadership position as the pastoral lead.  Throughout my career I have gained an in-depth knowledge of the education system and have seen how children can flourish when given the right support.  In my spare time, to continue my love of working with children, I volunteer as a coach for the U5/U6 and U8 teams for Brockenhurst Youth Football Club. I also hold a position on the Committee for the Club and coordinate pitch bookings for all seventeen teams within it
Jo Plummer - Foundation Governor
I moved to the village, with my husband Kevin, in 2013. I started working as an English teacher and progress leader at a local secondary school. Prior to this I taught English, Psychology and R.S. at a large comprehensive school for 11 - 18 year olds in South London.  I have two (grown up) children who work and live in London.  I am a committed Christian; I regularly attend St Saviour's church, I am on the PCC and prayer teams. I also work with the Youth group (Blaze).  I really enjoy walking, reading and theatre (especially musical theatre). When our children were young I taught aerobics to adults in a variety of evening classes.
Julie Edwards - Co opted Governor
I moved to Brockenhurst in 2002 andmy two sons both went to the school, one of whom is now studying for his A Levels at Brockenhurst College, the other studying for a Physchology degree at university.Subsequent to attaining my geography degree, I joined the teaching profession in 1988. My career has led me to  work in a broad range of schools, initially in Tower Hamlets (London) followed by Sittingbourne, Kingston-upon-Thames, Bristol and Solihull - achieving my first Deputy Headship in 1995 in Bristol. Having a 9 year career break with my second son from 2003 enabled me to direct my efforts into supporting the community. During that time I was a committee member and then Chair of Busy Badgers Toddler Group, secretary for Brockenhurst Gymnastics Club, secretary for Brockenhurst Primary School Trust, committee member for Brockenhurst Primary School PTA for 6 years and Treasurer for the latter 4, Assistant Leader at Brockenhurst Beavers, a laboratory technician at Brockenhurst College in the Biology Department and established a successful Bed & Breakfast business. I returned to teaching at Brockenhurst Primary School in 2006.
Marie Macey-Dare - Co opted Governor
My youngest child attended Brockenhurst CE Primary, joining Reception in 2003.  My previous background in IT enabled me to support the school as a volunteer parent in the classroom and IT suite.  I was delighted to be appointed as a member of staff in 2005.  I have since qualified as a higher level teaching assistant and ELSA and I support the LMT in a finance and assessment capacity.  I have been a member of the governing body for a number of years, originally as staff governor and then co-opted, supporting  a group of people who are passionate about the school, it's pupils and the high quality education it provides.
Lucy Ladd - Parent Governor
I moved to Brockenhurst nine years ago and have two children at Brockenhurst Primary School. I am privileged to have this opportunity to continue to shape the positive vision for our school and further it’s reputation as a recognised nurturing environment for all. I have been Co-Chair of the school PTA for the last two years, which has allowed the wider community to help make a difference to the school. I am keen to encourage the strengthening of a positive, cohesive relationship between school, the governing body, parents and the local community. I volunteer with the RDA, which is hugely rewarding and has allowed me to gain more knowledge around the effective provision for children with additional needs. I have worked in business for 15 years and hope I can bring my experience to this role in helping build sucessful working relationships.
Tracy O'Connor - Clerk to Governors
Denis Dooley
I am the Chief Executive of both the New Forest Agricultural Show Society and Camping in the New Forest. The Society is a charity with an aim to promote and educate Agriculture, Horticulture, Forestry and Equestrianism. This is achieved through educational activities at both the Show and throughout the year at our base in New Park Farm. We also support the local community with bursaries and educational events on our campsites.
As a school governor I hope my knowledge of the local community, passion for education and The New Forest will help the school improve in the future.
