We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year R

Friday 3rd November 2023

We have had a great first week back in Badger class. The children have quickly settled back into the routines and structure of the day.

Our new role play area this half term is a supermarket which we have enjoyed using this week. We have all written a shopping list to take to the supermarket and these have been amazing! Well done Badgers, we have been so impressed with your writing.

As part of our topic on supermarkets and food and reading the book ‘Pumpkin Soup’, on Wednesday 15th November, we will be walking into the village to buy some vegetables. If there is anyone who would be able to accompany us, please email me. It would be very much appreciated.

Then, on Thursday 16th November, we will be making soup with the vegetables. We would then love it if you would like to come into the classroom to try the soup your children have made. This will begin at 2:15 in Badger class. Please, if you can, don’t mention this to the children as we are going to write invitations for you next week and it would be lovely if they think it is a surprise!

We have also been learning about bonfire night this week and the history behind why we celebrate it. We have created firework pictures out of oil pastels and made 3D fireworks out of card.

I have sent the children home with their tricky words today in their pots. If you didn’t manage to bring in a pot, they are in an envelope and if they could be transferred into a named pot, that would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Please practice these words when you can and bring them into school every day so we can practice them here too. A new set of words will be added to the pot each week.

Thank you for your continued support.

Have a lovely weekend.

Miss Prichard and Mrs Shilton.
