We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Y6 blog - 1.10.2023

Good afternoon,

Happy December everyone!!

Year 6 have had a great few weeks, they have all settled into a new routine with Mrs Erdbeer and Miss Lever in the class. In Maths we have been tackling fractions and everyone has been moving on within their learning and broadening their knowledge and understanding.

In English we have been reading a book called Floodland and thinking about the topic and feelings within the book. Everyone produced a  diary entry, thinking about what emotions Zoe would be feeling at a particular point in the story. Floodland has influenced our learning in both Guided Reading and Geography too as we have been learning about Climate Change. The class have a really good understanding of the impact of climate change within our world and can easily recognise the impact it has had on flooding.

We are now on our run up to Christmas and have made robins and christmas trees for our class Christmas door! We have also started designing and making our christmas garlands within design and technology where we have learnt different sewing stitches to use.

Many thanks to Jonathan Gerrelli – The New Forest head agister- for coming in and talking to us all about the ponies and the forest this afternoon.  The children gained a wealth of experience about looking after the animals on the forest and the job of the agister.

We are all wishing Miss Martin a speedy recovery and look forward to seeing her again when she is better. We are looking forward to our last 2 weeks before Christmas where we are learning about Frost Fairs and time slips in English, practising our carols, carrying on with our fractions and building even more knowledge about climate change!

Please remember forest school for the current group – wrap up for all weathers!

Have a lovely weekend.
