We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 6 Weekly Blog Post

19.1.24

Good afternoon,

Year 6 have been working really hard this week.

We have finished our ratio unit in maths and the children were able to apply their knowledge of ratio to real life problem-solving examples. We have now moved on to calculating decimals, and we will move on to understanding the equivalences between decimals and fractions and percentages.

We have now finished our English unit linked to 'The Lion and the Unicorn' and the children have written some letters from the perspective of the main character in the book - Lenny. They have really understood his character and shown a good understanding of the audience they are writing for. We have started a new text for Guided Reading called 'Letters from the Lighthouse' and we are also reading this for our 'daily reader'.

In Science, we have been researching Charles Darwin and his Theory of Evolution. The children will be taking notes based on this research and have been using the Chromebooks to help them to do this. Later in the term we will conduct an experiment linked to Charles Darwin's research on the Galapagos Islands.

The children are all now up to date with their Forest School sessions so there will be no Forest School from next week onwards.

We hope you all have a lovely weekend.
