We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 6 Weekly Blog

2.2.24

Good afternoon,

Thank you for all of the donations to the Children's Air Ambulance charity today. We had a very informative assembly this morning with Anoushka from the charity.

In English, we have explored more of the book 'Heroes' and next week the children will progress on to writing their own pieces about heroic animals. In Guided Reading, we have been exploring two texts: Letters from the Lighthouse and War is Over. The children have been engaged in all books and have been doing lots of comprehension tasks based on these texts.

In maths, we have moved on to exploring fractions, decimals and percentages, using division as a method to find equivalences. This has been a new method for most children, but we will continue to practice this in school regularly.

In History, we have been working on our topic of the Trojan War. The children have been shown more and more evidence each week, including photographs from an archaeological dig, and they are progressing towards deciding whether they think this story is a myth, a legend or factual. I am looking forward to hearing the children debate this next week!

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.
