We Enjoy and Excel in the Presence of God

Year 6 Weekly Blog

3.5.24

Good afternoon,

The children are working their absolute socks off at the moment! We are so proud of them. Thank you for getting their forms back in for the SATs breakfasts and Bikeability so promptly - if there are any outstanding forms, or you need any extras printed off, please let us know!

In English this week, we finished writing and publishing stories where we have built tension and created sympathy for a character. We explored extracts from 'Little Women' and 'Oliver Twist' to give examples where we have an unpleasant character with authority, and a younger character who we feel sorry for. The children were really able to use these extracts to create a similar mood and atmosphere in their own stories.

In Maths, we have been revising a range of different concepts that we have previously taught, including factors, multiples, prime numbers and a number of multistep problems.

In PE, we have been focusing on Athletics in one of our lessons each week this half-term. This week we were learning how to do the triple jump. This was a real challenge, but the children were very resilient!

We hope you all enjoy the bank holiday weekend.
